Eastside students are working hard on reading comprehension using

Accelerated Reader. This program has a special feature called

Renaissance Home Connect, which allows parents to monitor their

child's Accelerated Reader test scores from any computer with an

Internet connection. Renaissance Home Connect is fun and easy to

use. It allows the teacher and parents to share information about

students' progress in Accelerated Reader. If you'd like to receive

emails showing your student's quiz or test results, click the Email Setup

link in Renaissance Home Connect and follow the directions.

Staff Spotlight

Eastside has a new lead

custodian. However, she is

not new to the Douglas

County School System. She

has been a custodian for

almost 20 years! She greets

all the students and staff with

a smile every day. She can

be found monitoring the

lunchroom or in the hallway

making sure the school is

clean. We appreciate

March Is Music in Our Schools Month. The Theme is: "All Music All People"

We are celebrating the power of Music to Change Everything.

We are pleased to announce our Honor Chorus Participants are:

Gisselle Baharona, Sinai McQueen, Julia Hutchinson, Vanessa Barajas, Phoenix

Riley, Kaylani Frazier, Alena Jones. These ladies will represent Eastside well and

make us Eastside Bear proud. The Honor Chorus performance will take place

on Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Central Baptist Church. Please show your

support for these talented Eastside Bears.

Music classes are gearing up for Note flight Compositions presentations and

incorporating their writing skills.

We have daily themes to help reinforce our writing and math skills. Go Noodle

has excellent movement and education skill reinforcement. Our students

especially like "Blazer Fresh" Use a Comma and Get Your Money Right.

As we plan toward the new school year we are moving towards becoming

STEAM certified. Using the Project Based Learning Model and Gifted Cluster we

anticipate some creative projects to reinforce our Higher Order Thinking Skills.

We are also hosting the Poppy Poster Contest by Grade Levels. Students are

eligible to enter in one of seven different classes: Grade 2-12 as listed

Class I-2nd & 3rd grades; Class II-4th & 5th grades. Class VII- students with

disabilities. Please See Mrs. Breeding for detailed entry content.

This project honors a native Georgian. Last year the American Legion Auxiliary

donated the Poppy Lady story to the Media Center for children to learn about

our rich history of support for our military.

Chorus meets every Tuesday and all members must have a written letter of

permission to stay or submit a change of transportation to if they are not staying after-school.

We have many upcoming performance requests and want to continue to

support and show our appreciation for our Partners In Education.

Musically Yours,

Mrs. Breeding
